7/17/20  Update for the Families & Friends of CCNH Residents:

As you are aware, Clinton County Nursing Home had a resident test positive for Covid-19 on July 8, 2020 and was notified on July 12, 2020.  I am happy to report that this individual subsequently tested negative for Covid-19 on July 13, 2020.  We continue to work closely with the Clinton County Health Department, the New York State Department of Health and the New York State Department of Epidemiology to determine the proper testing requirements and quarantine period.

We also had an employee test positive for Covid-19 on July 2, 2020 and we were notified on July 13, 2020.  As we mentioned in our past correspondence, our employee tested negative on July 10, 2020 and is quarantining at home waiting for the results of the second Covid-19 test.

Thankfully both our resident and our employee remain symptom free!

We continue to utilize proper infection protocol which includes droplet and contact precautions when necessary.  We also screen staff and residents for temperature and signs and symptoms.  Staff continue to be tested for Covid-19 weekly.

I understand there have been a lot of concerns regarding being notified about our Covid-19 related positive cases.  I would like to apologize if you feel we did not meet your expectations.  As always, our primary concern is our residents and staff safety.  I am hopeful that you can appreciate how much thought and effort went into this past experience.  We have many, many plans, policies and procedures in place but this is still very new to our nursing home.

Many families have inquired as to the results of the Covid-19 tests that were done on the residents as a result of our most recent events.  We have not received many results from that testing.  Fortunately the results that we have received were negative.  We will not be calling families with tests results unless there is an abnormal result that directly affects your loved one.  Also, we will continue to utilize email to communicate to any Covid-19 issues that have an impact on the nursing home.  We will only be calling in the event that a situation directly applies to your loved one.

We ALL must be diligent in this fight and to be responsible members of the community.

The life you save may not just be your own but all of us.

Thank you.
