The objectives of the Clinton County Clerk's Office are:

  •  To provide a recording and filing office for Clinton County residents in order to safeguard legal documents.
  •  To assist the Supreme and County Courts by handling fees, fines, filings, and certifying court records.
  •  To keep up-to-date real estate records in order to facilitate transfers of real property in an orderly manner.
  •  To serve the public by providing a full service Department of Motor Vehicle Office for Clinton County.

NOTICE

Effective immediately any papers received after 3:45PM will be processed the following business day. This applies to all filings and/or recordings.

Effective January 1, 2015 the 4 part RP-5217 paper form will no longer be accepted. You must submit the RP-5217 PDF with any recording. The RP-5217-PDF is a web-based downloadable, barcoded, pdf document. (It replaces the RP-5217 paper form which contains one original and three carbonless copies.) Form preparers will enter the appropriate information into the form and should save the document to their PC until the transfer has been completed and the deed filed with the County Clerk.

This bar-coded RP-5217 form is NOT intended for use as a handwritten or typewriter-entry document and will NOT be accepted with a Deed by the County Clerk as such.

UPDATE

The Clinton County Clerk's office will no longer affix a "Notice of Entry" stamp to any copy. This applies to all documents being recorded or filed in this office.

This procedure is being implemented to ensure the accuracy of copies of filed records. As a result, should anyone need a copy of a filed document, our staff will make a copy of the document once our barcode label is attached. The barcode label reflects the date and time of filing and will appear on all copies requested. The standard filing receipt also includes this information. You may obtain these copies at the rate of $.65 per page with a minimum charge of $1.30.
