| Clinton County contracts with an independent auditing firm to annually audit financial records in accordance with the Single Audit Act of 1984. All records in the Treasurer's Office are maintained under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and in accordance with the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASBE). | ||
| The County Treasurer submits an annual financial report to the New York State Comptroller in accordance with General Municipal Law. | ||

IMPORTANT NOTICE: AMENDMENT TO LOCAL LAW AFFECTING TAX FORECLOSURE The redemption period (the period of time the owner has to pay delinquent taxes and avoid having title to their property transferred to the County) for residential property and farm property has been reduced from four (4) years to two (2) years beginning with taxes to be issued in January 2007. Be advised that both delinquent 2006 and 2007 (with any possible prior years) taxes on residential and/or farm property will be included in the in rem foreclosure action anticipated to be filed with the Court in October 2009. Thereafter, all parcels shall have a two-year redemption period. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT TAXPAYERS TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY TO BEGIN THE PROCESS OF PAYING DELINQUENT TAXES ON YOUR PROPERTY. |
