ALL senior citizens age 60 and over and their spouses, regardless of age, are welcome at any of our Senior Dining Centers.
Enjoy delicious food that is specially prepared with you in mind. The activities are as varied as the menu – musical entertainment, bingo, exercise class, storytelling, birthday and holiday celebrations, blood pressure screening, senior benefit forums, 50/50 drawings, card playing, and chatting with friends.
Each site serves a nutritious midday meal along with socialization, education, and recreational opportunities. Reservations one day in advance are required and we suggest a donation of $2.25; however, we do not deny anyone a meal due to inability to contribute.
Visitors under 60 are charged a $6.00 guest fee for lunch.
A sample menu can be found in the Senior Sentinel and on the “After 50” page of the Press Republican on the first Wednesday of the month.
Van transportation to some of the nutrition sites is available. Car pooling may be arranged. Sites are open Monday through Friday, unless otherwise noted, excluding holidays, at the following locations:

Meals On Wheels delivers meals five days a week to the homebound throughout Plattsburgh and most of Clinton County. A frozen meal is provided for Saturdays and all holidays. This program is more than a meal. Clients are visited daily by the meal transporters and program staff contact them regularly.
Referrals are made by physicians, discharge planners, visiting nurses, family and friends or the senior in need. Home assessments are made to determine the appropriateness of the referral and monitor the status of clients.
Physicians may prescribe one of five diets: regular, no added salt, no concentrated sweets, mechanical soft, and pureed.
MOW suggests a donation of $2.25; however, no one is denied a meal due to their inability to contribute.

A registered dietitian assists the elderly in making informed decisions about their diets by providing nutrition education. Group presentations are given at the congregate sites on topics of general interest to participants. Nutrition information is also provided on the back of the monthly menus distributed to congregate and homebound participants. Nutrition counseling is provided as needed to homebound participants and is also available on a one-to-one basis at congregate sites.
