DESCRIPTION OF DEPARTMENT

The Information Technology department is responsible for maintaining and improving the standard operation of computers throughout the county along with assisting county users in achieving their departmental objectives through the efficient use of these resources.

We provide support on any computer-related concern for more than 500 users over our wide area network. The wide area network consists of the Government Center, Old Court House, Surrogate Building, Human Service Center, and E911 along with several remote sites that include Plattsburgh International Airport, the Highway Department, Sheriff / Jail, the Nursing Home, Mental Health and Addiction Services. Along with our network and PC support, our staff is also responsible for maintaining and assisting in the processing and use of various departmental systems. We also have created and customized software solutions for county users through an assortment of programming languages.

SERVICES

OS and desktop software support, hardware maintenance and support, PC installations and upgrades, training, database development and programming.

Network support, Email, Internet access, Web page design and hosting, GIS, maintaining of network servers.
Perform and maintain backup services for PCs, and servers.
Install and update intrusion protection, including anti-virus, anti-spyware, SPAM filtering and network threat protection.
Recommendation and purchasing of new computer equipment and software.
Maintaining of the phone system databases, phone support for county users, and distribution of telephone reports for county departments.
