SNOW AND ICE SERVICES

The Highway Department has the responsibility of providing snow and ice services for the 360 miles that comprises the County road system. To provide these critical services, the Department contracts with thirteen (13) of the towns within Clinton County.  Services for the 43.58 miles of County roads within the Town of Ellenburg, is provided through County personnel.  The Department maintains sufficient staffing and equipment to expand services and coverage should the need arise.

County Highway Operations – Ellenburg Garage:

The County provides 24-hour coverage five (5) days a week on a Sunday to Friday basis.  The following County operations schedule is provided: 

ROUTINE OPERATIONS

Start Snow & Ice Shift: Sunday, November 25, 2007
(subject to change)
End Snow & Ice Shift:  April 2008 (exact date to be determined)
First Shift (Red Team):  7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Second Shift (White Team): 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight
Third Shift (Blue Team): 11:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Weekend, Holiday &  After Hours Call Outs: Weekend call out assignments begin mid November.
After Hours Call Outs: Call outs will rotate between red, white and blue rosters.
Snow Emergency Call Outs:

If it becomes necessary to run Snow and Ice operations 24 hours a day, employees shall not work more than 14 consecutive hours with a minimum 8 hours rest period. The Highway Superintendent will establish rotations as necessary.
