Fishing
One of Clinton County residents, summer
residents, and visitors favorite activities is fishing throughout the
county.
Lake Champlain hosts a number of fishing tournaments including nationally
known bass tournaments. Upper Chateaugay Lake and Chazy Lake often host a
number of ice fishing tournaments.
Clinton County has a number of smaller bodies of water that offer good
fishing experiences for cold water species (trout and salmon) and warm water
species (bass and pike). These bodies of water include the following:
Taylor Pond, Silver Lake, Fern Lake, AuSable River, Great Chazy River,
Little Chazy River, North Branch of the Great Chazy River, Union Falls Pond,
Saranac River, English River, Salmon River and numerous other ponds, brooks,
and streams.

and village clerks, and a number of stores sell fishing licenses.

Clinton County trappers trap fur bearers and nuisance animals. There is a
mix of public and private lands available to trappers. Please, make sure to

Clinton County has bear, deer, turkey, rabbits, ruffed grouse, geese, ducks,
woodcock, raccoon, red and gray foxes, coyotes, bobcats, etc for game
animals.
There is a mix of public and private lands available to hunters. Please,
make sure to get permission to hunt on private lands and know which public
lands allow hunting.
