The Early Intervention Program (EIP)

The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is for children under the age of three who are developmentally delayed or have a diagnosed disability. EIP provides services that assist in growth and development to eligible children and their families.

Early Intervention strengthens the family's ability to manage daily life and meet their child's special needs.

How Much Does it Cost?

There is no cost to families for services provided by EIP.


 


How Does EIP Work?

All families are provided with a service coordinator.

Your service coordinator explains the program, and assists you with making decisions for your child.

To help you make the best plan to assist your child's growth and development, an evaluation will be provided.

Help can be provided for your child at home and / or day care.

Dear Parent,

Your child is growing and learning every day. Every child is unique, and develops at her/his own rate. Here are some developmental milestones that you may find helpful.

6 Months

Rolls over
Starting to sit
Makes babbling sounds and laughs
Reaches for objects and switches toys from one hand to another Plays with toys

 

12 Months

Crawls
Pulls self to standing
Walks holding on to furniture
Waves bye-bye
Puts objects into container
Says ma-ma, da-da, ba-ba (bottle)
Responds to simple verbal requests
Picks things up with thumb and forefinger




 

18 Months

Points to 4 body parts
Imitates mopping, dusting
Turns book pages 2-3 at once
Points to picture in a book if asked where is kitty, etc.
Follows directions
Says at least 10 words
Climbs

24 Months

Says 2-3 word sentences, ex. see dog, kitty come here
Names all body parts
Pushes cart or pulls wagon around objects and backs out of corner
