Applying for a Permit to Operate
Campgrounds are regulated by the
New York State Sanitary Code,
Subpart 7-3. All campgrounds with more than
five camping sites are under the jurisdiction of the Health Department and
require an annual operating permit.

New or Campgrounds (Construction)
Anyone wishing to develop a new campground
in Clinton County must submit complete engineered blue prints of the
proposed facility.
Approval will also likely be required from the local Town, The New York
State Department of Environmental Conservation and possibly the Adirondack
Park Agency.

The Clinton County Health Department will contact you with the next steps
that you need to take, to get your project cleared per the NYS Sanitation
Code regulations.

County Inspections of Campgrounds
Regular inspections are performed by Health
Department inspectors to check for such items as drinking water safety,
general sanitation, sewage and garbage disposal and fire safety.
If the campground has a swimming
pool or a beach these are
also inspected to ensure that they meet safety requirements.
