Membership is determined by New York State Health Department regulations and
include Director of Public Health (non-voting), 3 NYS licensed physicians, 3
members representing County at large, and 1 City representative. Board of
Health members are appointed for six year terms by the Clinton County
Legislature.
What Does the Health Department Provide For the Community?
> Ongoing assessment of the community’s health
care needs
> Surveillance and Epidemiology
> monitors the numbers and patterns of preventable illnesses, diseases, and
injuries
> Health assessment, skilled nursing, and referrals for other needed
services for individuals needing home health care services
> Injury prevention and promotion of healthy lifestyle choices through
community outreach activities and health education
> Immunization
> Case management for families with children with developmental delays from
birth to five years
> Environmental protection, through inspections, monitoring, and education
> Emergency planning and public health response

How is the Health Department Funded?
The Clinton
County Health Department is funded by Federal, State, Local governmental and
private resources.
The Health Department’s
Finance Unit oversees and implements the systems that protect these
fiscal assets.
Do You Have a Speaker's Bureau?
Yes, we have a speaker's bureau. The Clinton County Health Department will
provide health education presentations to promote healthy lifestyles in
county residents.
Requests for presentations may be made by contacting the administration
office about one month in advance of the desired program date with the
expected type and size of the audience, preferred time, and topic chosen. No
fee is charged but the sponsoring group is asked to reproduce any handouts
or materials needed. The following topics are currently available:
> Poison
> Food safety
> Rabies
> Lead
> Hand washing
> Asthma
> Home care promotion
> Early intervention and child development
> Healthy eating for women of childbearing age
Other subjects may be addressed by
special request and as resources permit.
