The Clinton County Air Response Board is a standing Committee reporting to the Clinton County Fire Advisory Board. The Committee is made up people from the following positions:
- Chief of Department - Mooers Fire Department
- Department President – Mooers Fire Department
- Chief of Department – South Plattsburgh Fire Department
- Fire Commissioner – South Plattsburgh Fire Department
- Two (2) Fire Advisory Board members – appointed annually by the Fire Advisory Board Chair
- One (1) Fire Coordinators representative – appointed annually by the Fire Coordinator
Breathing air supply for Fire Departments in Clinton County is generally supplied by either the Mooers Fire Department or the South Plattsburgh Fire Department. These two departments maintain and operate mobile cascade resupply units as well as fixed compressor refill stations. The departments respond to incidents on a mutual aid basis with the mobile cascade resupply units when requested by an incident Commander through the County Dispatch Center. Each department has a primary response area with the County being divided into a northern sector and a southern sector. Mooers Fire Department covers the northern sector while South Plattsburgh covers the southern. In the event of a large scale event or if equipment is out of service either department will respond anywhere within the area covered by the Clinton County mutual aid system.
The two departments are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the air supply equipment. The Clinton County Air Response Board exists to ensure both departments are maintaining equipment to an acceptable standard to be ready to respond anywhere in the County. The Air Board collects equal monetary contributions annually from each of the Clinton County Mutual Aid System fire departments which it in turn disburses to the Mooers and South Plattsburgh Fire Departments to cover recurring and expendable costs such as fuel, air certification testing and routine truck and compressor maintenance. Excess funds are retained for future air supply equipment replacement/upgrade projects.
The Air Board generally meets bi-monthly on the third Wednesday of the month before the Clinton County Fire Advisory Board meeting.
